Briefing on IELTS - Giới thiệu tóm tắt về IELTS

An IELTS test consists of 4 skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. First 3 skills are held at a time, usually on Saturday Mornings, sometimes Thursday Mornings. Speaking can be done either in same testing day afternoon, or appointed separately another day by an IELTS officer. Candidates can register either at IDP or BC, Hanoi and Hochiminh City.
1. Listening: 30 minutes + 10 minutes to transfer from BOOKLET into ANSWER SHEET. Listening once only. 4 sections. 40 questions.
2. Reading: 1 hour. 3 passages of around 1000 words each, academic style, various topics. 40 questions.
3. Writing: 1 hour. 2 tasks.
  • Task 1: at least 150 words (20 minutes). Describing either a graph, or a table, or a diagram, either separately or in combination of either a graph and a table, or a table and a diagram, or two tables, or two graphs. Tests with a diagram are quite rare, say, 20%.
  • Task 2: at least 250 words (40 minutes). Argumentative or Descriptive Essays
4. Speaking: 11-14 minutes (usually 11), recorded test. 3 parts.
  • Part 1: personal, usually 3 topics
  • Part 2: Long-talk: personal. A card with a topic. 1 minute to prepare. up to 2 minutes to talk. 1-2 questions follow-up
  • Part 3: Disscussion on topic form part 2. Academic, abstract.
